Wayward Outdoors

Small group immersions into the world's quieter valleys led by local guides, unhurried by design.

Not on the Map, On Purpose.

This is for people who are tired of conventional, shallow travel, who want something deep, moving, and meaningful, different from their own lives. Conventional trips give you a beautiful place, a bucket-list photo, maybe even a sense of peace , but they don't give you the time or slowness to actually notice, or to take part in what's really happening around you in real time.

We take you to offbeat, unhurried places that aren't famous, into communities that live in their own timelines, their own way. We give you the chance to stop performing and just be to explore more of who you are, without the identity you carry at home.

You don't come back with photos. You come back different, more grateful, more calm, more grounded in what you already have, with a new way of approaching your own life. Because you've spent long enough inside someone else's life, and long enough away from performing your own.

Experiences

Saryu Valley Exploration

A slow week inside one of Kumaon's least-visited valleys mornings on foot with local guides, afternoons with the families who host you, evenings around a fire hearing stories that don't make it into guidebooks. No fixed itinerary, no rush between sights.

Give & Take

The trail climbs through oak and rhododendron forest, past river crossings and high meadows, into the shadow of Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot, ending at the snout of the Pindari Glacier itself — the source of the Pindar River.

Built around reciprocity: you arrive as a guest, but you leave having contributed a skill-share, a workshop, hands-on time with a local initiative. It's less about sightseeing and more about an exchange that benefits the community as much as you.

"this was the best experience of my life"

Aastha, Founder | Kumaon Uttarakhand

"We started Wayward because the best parts of Kumaon were never on a brochure. Every trip is designed to bring wholesome experience to the visitor and also to give back to the community which also supports their livelihood."

Rilex, Gujrat

COMMUNITY LED MODEL

Every Wayward program is co-created with the people who live there. Locals aren't hired help — they're hosts, guides, teachers, and facilitators, and a share of every program's revenue stays in the community that runs it.

This isn't charity tourism. It's an economic model: dignity and ownership for the people whose land and culture make the experience possible, and a reason for them to stay rather than migrate for work elsewhere. For you, it means a trip led by people who actually know the valley — not a guide reading off a script.
